HMRC may ask to visit your business to inspect your VAT records.
HMRC may wish to visit your business to inspect your VAT records and to make sure you are paying the right amount of VAT. They will usually contact you before the visit, however you should be aware that they may also visit without an appointment or they may contact you by phone to enquire about your VAT affairs.
HMRC will inspect your VAT records, ask you about your business and check your calculations and paperwork to ensure you have accounted for everything correctly and paid the right amount of VAT.
If they find any problems they will write to you telling you what you have to do to correct the problems, whether you have to make any corrections to your VAT account and whether there are any penalties payable.
It is important that you understand how to communicate with HMRC and how to provide them with the information they require.
We can help you with VAT inspections by preparing you in advance of the inspection or attending the inspection with you to ensure that you feel comfortable with dealing with HMRC and that you achieve the right outcome from the inspection.
If you would like us to help you with a VAT inspection or any other areas please get in touch and we can talk through your requirements.
I work with Val and beyond the Numbers, because they are exactly that..more than just the numbers. They work hard to understand my business, understand the business needs that are unique to me. They then shape the support and service around those needs.
What I particularly like is that they are up for doing all sorts of support, from basic book-keeping, through to strategic challenge and insight. Trusted partners.
